Completing a dissertation project is probably one of, if not, the most challenging and demanding coursework assignment any academic will have to fulfil. The dissertation is a critical component of a Degree program and any student who wants to earn a degree and make a mark in his academic field will have to accomplish the research and written formal document that comprises the dissertation project. This is a daunting task, as many students will attest to, but there are several things you can do to make
dissertation writing easier to tackle:
- Choose a topic which is related or within your chosen field of study or field of interest.
- Think of several dissertation topics and decide on a temporary dissertation title. The topic and title of the dissertation may still change, depending on how your initial research goes and on the feedback of your committee.
- Come up with a strong methodology for your dissertation. The methodology plays a crucial role in the completion of your project.
- Remember to take note of all sources used in writing your dissertation proposal and the final dissertation itself.
Probably the most overlooked thing you will have to remember in writing your dissertation is this: pace yourself.
Dissertation writing cannot and should not be left to the last minute. Start working on your dissertation immediately after your proposal is approved so the ideas that formed your proposal are still fresh and you will not be stuck working on your dissertation at the eleventh hour.
